As a growing charity, we are looking to expand our team of Support Workers to provide valuable and caring support to adults with learning disabilities.

This role is based in Milton, where you will be responsible for supporting a gentleman living in his own accommodation, enabling him to live independently, building up his confidence and offering opportunities for him to experience new activities.

“I like to be busy and chat to everyone, and I have lots of hobbies and interests. My hobbies include bowling, archery, going for walks in the forest, going to the beach and visiting castles. When I’m at home, I enjoy watching TV and really like sharing some of my favourite shows with the people who support me. I love listening to music and singing along, and get really excited when it’s Halloween and Christmas with all the decorations. I’m looking for someone who can support me and have fun with me, especially if it involves a little make-believe!”

Requirements:

• A nurturing, supportive and patient approach
• Strong communication skills, being able to pick up on both verbal and non-verbal cues
• Shifts can either be long or short day shifts, possibly sleep ins and will involve every other weekend.
• You need to hold a full UK driving licence.
• New to social care – no problem, as we have excellent internal training for all support staff.
• Experienced? Then we will value and offer to enhance the skills you bring!

Main responsibilities

• To provide person-centred support to the people who use our services.
• To follow the support plans of the people we support and any other relevant documentation
• To support all people in line with their individual communication needs
• Assist with daily activities, which may include medication administration, and personal hygiene.
• Maintain open communication with the people we support, their families and within the staffing team to ensure needs are met effectively.
