As a growing charity, we are looking to expand our team of Support Workers to provide valuable and caring support to adults with learning disabilities.

This particular role will provide support to a young man in his own home who has autism and possesses exceptional savant abilities in mathematics, memory and calendar calculation, alongside learning difficulties. While he can display occasional negative behaviours, he has a board range of interests, a slapstick sense of humour, and a zest for life. He is looking for a Support Worker who can help him nurture his talents whilst providing guidance, and supporting him to self-regulate during challenging moments. He requires support with aspects of daily living.

Requirements:

  • A full UK driving licence is essential for this role
  • Shifts usually run from 8am-11pm plus sleep in with a requirement for alternate weekends.
  • A nurturing, supportive and patient approach
  • Strong communication skills, being able to pick up on both verbal and non-verbal cues
  • Experienced? Then we will value and offer to enhance the skills you bring!
  • New to social care – no problem, as we have excellent internal training for all support staff.

Responsibilities

  • To provide person-centred support to the people who use our services.
  • To follow the support plans of the people we support and any other relevant documentation
  • To support all people in line with their individual communication needs
  • Assist with daily living activities, which may include meal preparation, medication administration, and personal hygiene.
  • Maintain open communication with the people we support, their families and within the staffing team to ensure needs are met effectively.
