Support Worker - Fulbourn

This is £26,280 per annum. (FTE is 40 hours per week, pro rata for part time.)

As a growing charity, we are looking to expand our team of Support Workers to provide valuable and caring support to adults with learning disabilities.

This particular role will provide support around the clock to a gentleman who lives in his own home. He has profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) which is a lifelong condition. You won’t be alone – this is a 2:1 role so you will work alongside another colleague so that this gentleman’s needs can be met. He has a busy schedule and loves doing a variety of activities that are stimulating and meet his sensory needs.

The gentleman is always happy, he likes to have fun, he loves listening to stories and he has a great sense of humour. He wakes up each morning with excitement, enthusiasm and eager to start his day, As part of his person-centred support plan it is important that his routine and protocols are adhered to, to ensure a good quality of life.

Requirements

  • A nurturing, supportive and patient approach
  • Strong communication skills, being able to pick up on both verbal and non-verbal cues
  • Various shift patterns with a requirement for alternate weekends
  • New to social care – no problem, as we have excellent internal training for all support staff.

  • A full UK driving licence is essential for this role – both manual and automatic driving licences accepted
  • We are unfortunately not able to offer sponsorship or offer additional hours for those with an existing sponsorship.

Main responsibilities

  • To provide person-centred support to the people who use our services.
  • To follow the support plans of the people we support and any other relevant documentation
  • To support all people in line with their individual communication needs
  • Assist with daily living activities, which may include meal preparation, medication administration, and personal hygiene.
  • Maintain open communication with the people we support, their families and within the staffing team to ensure needs are met effectively.
